MUSIC UNITES AND ROLLING STONE TO HOST IN TUNE MUSIC SERIES EVENT TO BENEFIT MUSIC
EDUCATION

Music Unites and Rolling Stone Kick-off Second Year of In Tune Music Series with an Exclusive Event Sponsored by
Garnier Fructis, to Benefit Inner-City Music Education; Featuring The Pretty Reckless, and a special appearance by
Gabe Saporta of Cobra Starship.

New York, NY (March 28, 2011) - Music Unites, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding sustainable music
education programs, is excited to mark its second year inspiring the next generation of musicians and music
professionals. On April 13, 7-10PM, with a benefit event at Dominion NY at 428 Lafayette Street in New York City,
Music Unites will celebrate its second birthday, and kick-off of the second year of its In Tune music series in
partnership with Rolling Stone. The event is sponsored by Garnier Fructis, and The Pretty Reckless and Gabe
Saporta of Cobra Starship will set the soundtrack for the evening.

In Tune, which kicked off last year with The Fiery Furnaces, is a series of unplugged live performances featuring top
breaking bands, intended to promote and benefit music education. Proceeds generously donated on behalf of Rolling
Stone on April 13, and through subsequent In Tune Music Series events, will enable Music Unites to expand its new
Adopt-a-School program. Through the Adopt-a-School program, New York City schools identified as beneficiaries will
receive music education support through visits and workshops with participating musicians. These outreach events
will aid in exciting the students and inspiring them to reach for their goals.

The Pretty Reckless is the breaking band slated to rock it out for education on April 13. The Interscope group,
headed by Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen, will have just ended a tour promoting their first album Light Me Up, which
debuted on the UK’s rock chart at number one, spending six consecutive weeks at the top of the chart, and drops in
the U.S. April 12. The Houston Press raved, “The Pretty Reckless sounds like a hard-bitten bar band fronted by a
woman who has to be old enough to have roomed with Courtney Love in Seattle in the '90s.” The Phoenix Times
calls, “Momsen's stage presence “magnetic.”

Year number two has produced many new exciting partnerships for Music Unites. The organization has presented
several successful, inspirational outreach events in conjunction with organizations including ASCAP, Girls Inc., The
Grammy Museum, Bebe Stores Inc., The Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum, and the UN Foundation. Some of the
artists Music Unites is proud to have established working partnerships with this year include Kate Nash, Shontelle,
Caitlin Moe, and Diane Birch.

Music Unites is also celebrating another successful year working with Young Audiences New York, and supporting
the Music Unites Youth Choir. The choir is gearing up for an exciting April performance at the 2011 Tribeca Film
Festival, where they are scheduled to sing at a special tribute to Academy Award and Grammy Award winner Quincy
Jones. Jones will be honored for his contributions to Cinema, Music & Philanthropy. The last year has also included
the continued success of Music Unites’ Women’s Empowerment initiative, and the organization has made significant
strides expanding its outreach initiatives, now having a presence not only in New York City, but also in Los Angeles
and Chicago.

Michelle Edgar, Founder and Executive Director of Music Unites - “It’s hard to believe that another year has passed,
and I’m so thrilled with the progress that we’ve made in that time. In less than a year Music Unites has expanded to
Chicago and Los Angeles, connecting with more students through our Instrument Donation program and outreaches
with Kate Nash, and we can’t wait to support students in more cities. Music and music education are such important
parts of the academic and cultural experiences, and Music Unites is here to do whatever we can to ensure that
students have access, through our programs and initiatives. Can’t wait to see where we can take Music Unites next
year!”
