Making A Difference One Song At A Time

Inspired by eight year old Kourtney Najjar who has been in the hospital since July 2010, twelve year old, 7th grader; Jamey Geston is ready to make a difference one song at a time and has planned her first benefit concert.

At just twelve years old, Carpinteria Middle School 7th grader Jamey Geston is ready to make a difference one song at a time. While other girls her age are attending school dances, texting, talking on the phone, chatting on the computer and doing regular “girl things” Geston is out there playing music and giving back to others and her community.

Getting involved at the young age of six, Geston became a member of a group called KIDS With A CAUSE a non-profit organization designed to inspire and encourage children—as well as individuals of all ages—to open their hearts to others through charitable acts of kindness. She learned at an early age how to bring hope and happiness to children in need.

Geston recently became friends with Kourtney Najjar, who was introduce to her on Facebook by a mutual friend, film producer and novelist, A.W. Gryphon Jamey read the about Kourts Krew, a non-profit created to help an eight year old little girl who is waiting for multiple organ transplants and has been in hospital since July 2011.

In January Geston visited and played for Kourts 8½ birthday since she was unable to celebrate it on her actual birthday because she had just had under gone organ transplant which was rejected. “It was a good day, Kourt was pain free and it was sunny and warm. She had a pre-birthday event a special visit from Jamey Geston who plays a pink guitar and is a little rock star. She writes songs and plays...she really was great Kourt really enjoyed her visit and the great thing is Kourt just wanted to play with her and talk, it was really cute!!” posted from Laura Najjar’s (Kourt's mom) blog.

Later that week she shared her visit with Jimmy Young Vice-President of McConnell’s Ice Cream and Yogurt in Ventura, she decided to have a fund raiser to help Kourt. Young said he would host the event and donate 50% of the profit to Jamey’s cause. Geston jumped on the opportunity but had to work fast to get it going. After multiple email messages and couple of visits to have more ice cream and talk they finalize the event they confirmed a date. Since McConnell’s was celebrating their 2nd year anniversary on Valentine Day and they settled on an Anniversary Dance and Concert to benefit Kourt's Krew.

Because of  Geston passion for music and her compassion of helping others Jamey has started a new project called Compassion with Passion, making a difference one song at a time. She will be volunteering her talents and skills to help others through her music She has organized and planned her first benefit concert set  for February 13th at McConnell Ice Cream 3241 E Main St. Ventura, CA, 93003 from 3pm -8pm. Geston has invited her band Retro Genius, White Moon, Technical Difficulties, Blue Suns to play at the benefit and there will be an open mic afterwards.

Jamey will be playing at another concert in April in San Diego benefiting Kourt's Krew.
