Inspiring the Next Generation of Women Who Rock
When founder Tish Ciravolo set out to create the world's first girl guitar, her goal was simple; make a guitar that will inspire women to play. As a former traveling band member and accomplished musician, Ciravolo drew inspiration to design Daisy Rock Guitars from her two daughters.
Created back in 2000 when the percentage of women who played guitars was less than five percent, Daisy Rock Guitars played a significant role in increasing that number to around twenty-six percent over the last decade. Thirteen years later, DRG is known throughout the world with hundreds of thousands of guitars and basses sold not only to beginner students, but also endorsed by professional artists like Joan Jett, Avril Lavigne, Jane Wiedlin (Go-Go’s), Vicki Peterson (the Bangles), Dolly Parton, and Lisa Loeb who made a celebrity appearance at the DRG booth during the 2013 National Association of Music Merchants Convention (NAMM).
Ciravolo has received numberous awards for her work with DRG; most recently she was honored with the She Rocks Vision Award by Laura B. Whitmore, founder of the Women’s International Music Network. Ciravolo stated, “It’s really not about me, it is about the fact that there is now this company that changes other girls; it changes people’s lives and I always feel like I’m a messenger for that and I feel very blessed to be that messenger.”
